CY-FAIR, TEXAS (February 19, 2019) The Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce awarded their Ambassador of the Year and Business of the Year winners, in the non-profit, small, medium, and large categories, at a special monthly luncheon on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the Berry Center.
Outgoing Chairman of the Board, Dr. Mark Henry, Superintendent of the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District, had previously presented the Chairman’s Award to Robert Adam for his contribution and service to the Cy-Fair community at the Chamber’s January Luncheon.
The 2018 Ambassador of the Year was awarded to Jody Castro with Ad Pages. “Jody has given over twenty years of service to the Chamber, not only in support by attending events, but also as an unyielding source of new member referrals. She is truly a Chamber Champion,” Leslie Martone, President of the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce said. Other quarterly winners who were up for the Ambassador of the Year award were Mark Mascarenhas of Kiddie Academy of Longenbaugh-Cypress, Reed Levenson of Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More, and Laura Deike of Blended and Blessed Wines featuring Scout & Cellar.
The 2018 Businesses of the Year were:
SMALL BUSINESS – FEWER THAN 10 EMPLOYEES: The winner was Aire Serv of Houston Northwest. They started as a small, family, home-based business in 2010 and it soon became clear that they were growing too big for just the two of them to manage. Additional family members were recruited into the business and the decision was made to purchase a franchise that was perfectly aligned with their own business ideals and code of values. Their continually growing business required the hiring of even more employees to help service their new and existing clients and an office space was acquired. Their quality service and dedication has grown their business a whopping 40% in the last two years alone.
Finalists were Club Z! In-Home Tutoring Services and Jumping Fiesta Rentals.
MEDIUM BUSINESS – FEWER THAN 50 EMPLOYEES: Winner, Montessori Preschool, is a family-owned Cy-Fair business that was established in 1996, and their success has allowed them to continue to grow and expand. Their innovative community partnerships help to support their own mission while providing additional services and benefits to the families they serve which include leadership, community involvement, and planning for higher education.
Finalists were Courtyard by Marriott Houston Northwest/Cypress and First Choice Collision of Cypress.
LARGE BUSINESS – MORE THAN 50 EMPLOYEES: Winner, Backyard Grill, has been serving the Cy-Fair area for nearly 18 years. They are very proud of their commitment to the children of CFISD as well as ALL residents in the community through their charity programs and commitments which rival and surpass those of most national chains. They truly embody their mission “To provide quality product and services to obtain loyalty from our guests, and to support our local community.”
Finalists were HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest and PBK Architects, Inc.
NON-PROFIT: Winner, Cy-Fair Helping Hands, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, founded and staffed by caring volunteers. Their goal is to meet the critical needs of the homeless, struggling individuals, and families in the Cy-Fair area. Without judgment, they provide services free of charge to their clients, treating each with dignity and respect. All of Cy-Fair Helping Hands’ funding comes from private donations from individuals, churches, and local businesses.
Finalists were the Foundation for Autism Care, Education and Services (FACES) and the Spring Branch Community Health Center.
