While Louisiana may be famous for its creole cuisine, jazz and Mardi Gras, the state is known to export
some exceptional individuals. Jason and Shauna Barron are Louisiana transplants; Jason grew up in
Alexandria, while Shauna spent the early years of her life in Prineville, just across the river from Jason’s
hometown. Each chose to pursue a degree in Pharmacy at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. “I
graduated from ULM College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy, in 2003,” relates Shauna, “but we
didn’t meet until after I was out of college in 2004.” Jason followed suit, and was awarded his Doctor of
Pharmacy in 2015.
Jason has vivid memories of how he and Shauna met. “It is a really neat story! We have mutual friends
who would meet up in Lafayette, Louisiana every year to celebrate Mardi Gras. We were both invited to
join them for several years, but neither of us could make it. Shauna was in pharmacy school, and I
worked 60 hours a week, and every weekend. The one year that we both were able to go, 2004, was
when we met. We got married in October of 2011. We were living in Longview, Texas, but got married in
Pineville, Louisiana. It was a lot of work planning a wedding in one state, and getting married in another,
but we made it fun and enjoyed the process.”
Determined to ensure their financial security, Jason and Shauna turned to AdvoCare, a Plano, Texas
based company. (Founded in 1993, AdvoCare provides innovative nutritional, weight-management and
sports performance products. In addition, AdvoCare offers a business opportunity for individuals
interested in pursuing extra income. Source: AdvoCare website). “After graduating pharmacy school, we
made a joint decision that I would continue to grow our AdvoCare business so we would have more time
flexibility with one another,” remarks Jason. “After graduating Pharmacy School, I worked for a well-
known retail company as a pharmacist for 13 years before moving to Cypress, Texas,” Shauna
comments. It was then that she joined Jason, working from home in their AdvoCare business.
In their nearly six and one-half years together, Jason cites “…our wedding, vacations, and building our
business,” as their most treasured memories. “I love spending time daily with my best friend. We enjoy
traveling, eating at new restaurants, and working as business partners,” adds Shauna.
Being self-employed affords the couple an opportunity to do something that they love: travel. “Last year
was Canada, Mexico twice, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. Even though we go to the beach mostly, my
favorite would be the snow and mountains,” says Jason. Shauna agrees that travels to the beach and
mountain snow trips are definitely fun, “but we also enjoy mission trips, where we get to make a
difference in the lives of other people. At home, we love the outdoors! Deer hunting, biking, long
distance running, and swimming are also a few of my favorites.” Jason’s choice leisure activities include
snowboarding, CrossFit, and watching football.
The Barron’s’ move to Towne Lake was one taken “in total faith,” explains Jason. “We were visiting
some friends that live in Cypress and after visiting our second time, we felt like Cypress was where we
were being led to live. We put our home up for sale in Louisiana, and looked at 15 houses in two days in
the Cypress area. We knew nothing about the amenities and the great community atmosphere Towne
Lake provides until after we moved in,” says Jason. “We plan to be here for a long time!” “We really love

the people of Towne Lake! We enjoy getting to know them and building relationships. Of all Towne Lake
offers, the people make the community a warm inviting environment to live and enjoy life,” comments
Shauna.
Jason and Shauna agree that they delight in going out to eat. “We tend to frequent the Boardwalk when
in Cypress, and enjoy eating at a fun location, and visiting with a few neighbors while having lunch or
dinner,” comments Shauna. You can find the couple dining at Jaxton’s, Giannina’s Pizza, and Steak 48,
on the Northwest Freeway. A road trip to San Antonio will most likely include a visit to Whiskey Cake
Kitchen and Bar in The Shops at La Cantera. Shauna divulges that while they may like eating out, she
enjoys cooking and trying new dishes. “We cook at home a lot!”
