World of Beer
9945 Barker Cypress Road at Towne Lake
$9.75 Hamburger w/cheese & choice of fries, tater tots, or cole slaw.
$8.00 Street Taco (shrimp)
This is my very first review of Eating Out for $10 or Less. World of Beer is a Sports Bar. It’s considered a
bar & grill, but it’s really a sports bar. We went on Sunday night at 6:30pm. Most of the football crowd
had already left however there were a few Cowboy fans still there since the game wasn’t quite over yet.
It was loud, not from the crowd, but rather (from) the tv (that)was pumped through speakers. You don’t
go there on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday for anything other than sports, camaraderie and plan on
hanging out.
Our Server was Austin. He was great! Provided samples of beer and was very attentive.
Now for the review…I searched for items $10 or less. The burger stood out, I asked for cheddar cheese,
tomatoes and the sriracha mayo on the side. It comes with fries, tater tots or cole slaw. I asked for fries,
but ordered a side of slaw just to review.
The burger was perfect. Came out medium rare, just like I asked. Tomatoes were plentiful and the bun
was soft, yet toasted. The srirachia mayo was super tasty, not spicy but flavorful. The fries were good.
Had salt on them already. I wasn’t really a big fan of the cold slaw, though. The slaw was very creamy,
and had broccoli in it. Maybe kale too, couldn’t say for sure. I asked for ketchup and out came a bottle of
ketchup. Kroger brand ketchup. It wasn’t bad, but had a slight Hunts’ flavor to it.
My buddy had the shrimp tacos. He really enjoyed them. Beer battered shrimp with avocado and
chopped lettuce or cabbage. Tacos were a la carte.
Monday’s, they have $5 burgers all day, and a $3 or $4 beer, (Happy hour 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.), and you’ve
got a nice meal for under $10.
As far as a good meal for $10 or less, I’d recommend both the burger or street tacos. However, this is a
sports bar. During peak times, I’d expect slow service. Sports bars are for hanging out and watching
sports. It was very loud. Not a great place for having meaningful conversations unless you eat outside on
the porch. Can’t wait for better weather because the view from the patio is awesome.
I’m looking forward to providing many more reviews.
