I met Josh and Kathleen Cummings and their precious triplets Kaitlyn, Hunter, and Haley, while taking photos at the Howl-o-Ween Fest at Bridgeland in October last year. While exchanging pleasantries, Josh and Kathleen shared that they were residents of Cypress, happily living in Towne Lake. Certain that they would be great candidates for an upcoming Towne Lake edition of PinPointe Magazine, I asked if they would be interested in being a featured family. Weeks later, Josh and Kathleen readily answered interview questions, and we made arrangements to do a photo shoot for the January/February issue.

The snow was an unexpected bonus that morning; we braved the cold, and spent an hour taking photos at The Boardwalk Towne Lake and at The Lodge. Kathleen had chosen to dress everyone in red, a perfect choice with the snowy background. It was a bit of a challenge to photograph the lively “littles,” but in the time that we were together, I was struck by the patience and love that Josh and Kathleen demonstrated with each of their children. As we parted ways, Josh graciously thanked me for the time spent in capturing their family, and for choosing them as a Towne Lake feature. He also followed up with an e-mail, telling me how honored he and Kathleen felt at their selection.

On the morning of December 12, four days after the photo shoot, the PinPointe Magazine publisher forwarded a link regarding a tragic shooting and fatality at Hot Wells Shooting Range. The 10:00 p.m. news identified the victim: Joshua Cummings. In a statement released by CenterPoint Energy where he was employed, “Josh Cummings was a respected colleague and friend to many at CenterPoint Energy. …Josh will be deeply missed.” PinPointe Magazine wishes to convey our deepest sympathy to Kathleen Cummings and her children. In tribute to this wonderful husband and father, we have chosen to run the previously submitted family feature.
